Craig & Lani Martineau Family Teachers - Gene Smith HomeCraig was born and raised in Utah. He comes from a large family; he is the 2nd of 6 children, with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He spent 2 years in England while serving a mission for his church. He is currently working towards receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Communications. Craig's hobbies include anything involving playing, watching, or talking about sports. Craig also enjoys exploring his culinary skills and has become the resident chef in the Gene Smith Home. Lani, the middle of 5 children, was born in Mesa, Arizona. As a young child the family moved to Shelley, Idaho, where she lived until she graduated high school. Lani attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where she received her Associates Degree in Accounting. She moved to Utah and continued her education at Utah Valley State College, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. Her hobbies include sports, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Craig and Lani met through mutual friends in August 2002 and married in June 2004. Their daughter, Payton, was born in August 2007 and is, of course, their little princess. The Martineaus enjoy spending time together, especially traveling. Craig and Lani have been on 5 cruises together and hope to be able to enjoy many more opportunities to see the world. Because of their family's involvement, the Martineaus considered joining the Alpine Academy team many times over the last decade. They are grateful to have finally taken the opportunity to join Utah Youth Village as family teachers in April 2009. They are really enjoying the experience and hope to be positive role models to the girls at Alpine Academy. |

Jorge & Lisa Morales Family Teachers - Oak Ridge HomeJorge is the oldest of two boys and was born and raised in California up through the age of 14 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada after his family received a job transfer. He spent 2 years in Romania while serving a mission for his church. Jorge graduated from Brigham Young University receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish and a Minor in Sociology. Jorge has served as a naval officer, police officer and recently involved in industrial security in the private sector. He enjoys photography, outdoor activities and most of all his family. Lisa was born in Salt Lake City and has spent most of her life in Utah. For a short period she lived in Nevada where she met Jorge through a mutual friend. Lisa is part of a large family in Utah with over 150 relatives that live nearby. She is the oldest of 4 children which helped her to develop great leadership qualities. Lisa loves working with children and is family oriented. Lisa graduated early from high school and is very driven to finish what she starts. She has worked in customer service for most of her career, has a positive attitude and is very organized. Her hobbies include genealogy, baking, zumba and loves teaching Jorge how to change the brakes on the family car or home repairs. Jorge and Lisa have two boys together with one of those boys expected to be born in September, 2010. Lisa also has a beautiful daughter that loves her family and is thrilled about living with the girls at the Oak Ridge Home. The Morales family enjoys serving others and didn't think twice about the opportunity to contribute their time and talents to the young ladies at the Alpine Academy. |

Mike and Monique Otufangavalu Family Teachers - Willow Creek HomeMike is the middle child of 6; he was born and raised in Utah. Mike's hobbies include a variety of team sports, hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting. Mike's first experience working with Utah Youth Village as an Associate in the Raymond Home was from 2002-2004; he resumed this position in February 2009. During the time away from the Utah Youth Village, Mike gained additional treatment experience working with a variety of troubled youth populations and programs. Mike has held positions of responsibility such as: Program Director, Staff Supervisor, Assistant Unit Leader, Case Manager, Primary Transport Guide, and assistant Basketball Coach. Additionally, he has been responsible for development of program components, as well as and policies and procedures. Monique is the eldest of 5. She was born in Utah and raised in California. She returned to Utah for her senior year of high school. Monique graduated in 2001 and shortly after attended Snow College on a basketball scholarship. She transferred to Southern Utah University to pursue her education and basketball career. Monique graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Special Education (Mild/Moderate) and Physical Education with a minor in Health; she completed her studies with a teaching certificate to teach. Monique taught as a Special Educator for two years after graduating from SUU. After the arrival of their daughter, Monique stopped teaching in order to be at home. Mike and Monique met at Snow College in the spring of 2002 and were married in the fall of 2004. They spent time in Cedar City, UT and then Saint George, UT. In the fall of 2008, they moved back to Salt Lake City. Mike and Monique have a beautiful daughter, Malia, who was born in the spring of 2009. Both Mike and Monique have a keen interest working with youth. They find it exceptionally rewarding to see the personal growth each that each youth experiences. They are excited to have the opportunity to work together while creating value in an uplifting environment at Alpine Academy. |

Janette Thompson & Erin Lee Family Teachers - Cottonwood Grove HomeJanette Thompson - Janette’s career began in 1998 when she accepted a position to work as an early intervention specialist with children from birth to three with developmental disabilities. Through this experience, Janette developed a passion for working with children and families. In 2000, Janette received her Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Psychology and set out on a quest to find an evidenced-based model of care to work with children and families. This quest lead her to Girls and Boys Town of Las Vegas where she was introduced to the Teaching-Family Model. In 2003, Janette accepted a position as the Director of Training and Evaluation for Utah Youth Village. Her knowledge and respect of the Teaching-Family Model continued to grow and she was nominated to serve as Co-Chair of the Certification and Ethics Committee for the Teaching-Family Association. In May of 2006, Janette transferred to Alpine Academy as a Program Consultant. She worked in this position for a year before moving into Cottonwood Grove as a Family Teacher. Janette loves working closely with the girls as part of the Alpine Academy team to continue their tradition of helping troubled youth heal and learn skills to live a more happy, healthy and fulfilling life. Janette is currently pursuing her Masters in School Counseling Degree at the University of Utah and serves on the Board of Directors for the Teaching-Family Association. In her spare time, Janette loves to be outdoors and spend time with her family and friends. Erin Lee - Erin’s career in Social Services began in 2003, when she accepted a position to work with victims of domestic violence in Phoenix, AZ. Working with these families of domestic violence spurred interest in her work. She accepted another opportunity to be a motivational speaker throughout the Southwest, addressing groups of teenagers living with abuse. In 2006, Erin began working with Alpine Academy. She started as an associate in the Oak Ridge Home. Erin was an critical part of that team and quickly demonstrated her skill in the Teaching-Family Model and her special abilities in organization. Just six short months later, Erin accepted the family teacher position in the Cottonwood Grove Home with Janette Thompson. Erin has a degree in Music Production and Audio Engineering and is currently working to combine her love for music with her love for working with people in a music therapy degree. |

Robert & Kelly Mulari Family Teachers - Pine Canyon HomeRobert and Kelly met in 1996 at Southwestern College in Phoenix, Arizona. Within seven months of knowing each other they were engaged to be married. They have 2 children together; Rob also has two adult children. The Mulari's hail from large families and desire to spend time with family as often as possible. Robert is the youngest of 8 children and was born in Los Angeles, California. Robert was a carpenter, mechanic and waiter before going to Phoenix and attending Southwestern College; he received his Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies in 1999 graduating Summa Cum Laude. Robert has served in youth ministry at four different churches throughout the Southwest. He has a strong desire to help adolescents. He also worked at Residential Treatment Centers in northern Utah and in Phoenix. Robert received his Masters degree from Liberty University in 2007. When he's not at work, you will find Robert either on the golf course or on a basketball court. Kelly is the second oldest of 8 children. She was born in Tucson, Arizona. Kelly received her Bachelor's Degree in Human Development from Hope International University and her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from The University of Phoenix. Kelly worked along side Robert in youth ministry for over 10 years and has developed a heart for working with teenagers. Her desire is to help teens grow and learn in order to reach their full potential and become responsible, caring adults who have a positive impact on their community. She enjoys crafts, going to movies, and spending time with family. |

Savannah Lindsay Family Teacher - Geary HomeSavannah grew up in Salt Lake City where she lived with her family. She is the oldest of three children and has an oldest child mentality of keeping things organized and making things run smoothly. Savannah played Tennis in high school and has continued to be active running, hiking, rock climbing, wake boarding and snowboarding. She loves to be outside and incorporates athletics into working with youth. She has always been interested in youth and knew at the age of 15 that she wanted to work in residential treatment. Savannah got her degree in Psychology from the University of Utah focusing on youth development. Just before graduating she found a job as an Associate in the Oak Ridge home and began working at Alpine in the spring of 2006. Soon after she started she proved to be a skilled and capable caregiver to the girls. Her commitment to the Teaching Family Model and her love of the mission of Alpine Academy prompted her to move in and become a Family Teacher. As a Family Teacher Savannah has had a great deal of impact on the program as a whole by piloting the independent living curriculum and coordinating a number of service learning opportunities for the youth. The best part about this job for Savannah is the girls’ lives she is able to touch and change. She loves to see the transformation as the girls go through their learning process. She keeps in touch with many girls who have graduated to see them go on to lead healthy, happy lives. |
